Problem 14.13

( Process Dynamics, Modeling and Control , A. Ogunnnaike)

An unstable first–order process, with transfer function g(s) = 2/ (s-4) is to be controlled using a PI controller with G = 1

  1. Use a root locus plotting diagram to obtain a root locus diagram for the closed- loop system. From this diagram, specify the range of Kc values for which the closed-loop system is stable, and the frequency of oscillation when the system is on the verge of instability.
  2. Confirm analytically the graphical results obtained in part (a)
